Hearing Aid Assessment, Fitting & Rehabilitation
The situations where a person has difficulty hearing can vary greatly, as do the options available from hearing aid manufacturers. At the Neurosensory Unit, we pride ourselves on finding the best solution for each of our clients requiring assistance with their hearing.
Because we are an independent health service clinic, we are able to source hearing aids from any manufacturer. This means that our clients benefit from having the widest choice of aids with which to be fitted by our clinicians. The process of assessing a person’s communication difficulties, finding the best option, and fine-tuning the device to suit someone’s individual needs is referred to as a rehabilitation program. Rehabilitation programs like this are generally funded in two ways- privately (health funds may cover some of the costs), or through a third party such as a government department.
All of our clinics are fully accredited to service those seeking hearing aid advice privately, and those who qualify for services through the Federal Government’s Voucher Scheme, eg. For pension card holders, DVA white- and gold-card holders.
Hearing aids are developing very quickly, and major improvements are being seen every 6 to 12 months, as the technology gets more advanced. This may mean that people who tried a hearing aid 2 or 3 years ago and were unsatisfied with the sound may find they are very happy using a newer model.
The price of a hearing aid fitting (including the aid and the full rehabilitation program) for one aid ranges from $2500 to $5000, depending on the type of technology in the hearing aid. A discount is given for two hearing aids. For more information on hearing aids, please call use to make an appointment on 1800 657 959.
